If you or someone you love is due to have a baby, throwing a shower is one of the best – and most fun – ways to bring everyone together to share in the joy. Given that the day is typically all about spoiling the mother-to-be, it makes sense to hold the event somewhere suitably special, and nowhere in London can meet that bill more so than Chelsea, which is full to the brim with great venues. Here are a few of our favourites.
If you want to celebrate with good food, then The Townhouse at Tom’s Kitchen could be just the venue for you. Taking its name from multi-award winning chef, Tom Aikens, you get the idea right off the bat that the quality you can expect to find really is amongst the best of the best. Using seasonal ingredients, the team of chefs lovingly prepare Aiken’s delicious food, which celebrates the best of British, whilst incorporating influences from Italian, French and American cuisine. There are 3 different private dining rooms available to choose from, each with its own distinct features and appeal.
With a full catering kitchen, Canvas Chelsea is another venue where you can expect to be wined and dined, in beautifully appointed surroundings that really embrace the reputation of glamour and sophistication that has become synonymous with Chelsea. Having played host to everything from conferences and corporate gatherings to wedding receptions and cocktail parties, they really can turn their hand to almost any occasion, with the one constant being the high quality level of service that you can expect to find. The nearest rail link is Sloane Square, which can be reached in just a few minutes or so.
Be it a relaxing drink after work to unwind or a lively night out with your friends, Eclipse Chelsea can do it all. This world class cocktail bar has a wonderful contemporary feel that is ideal for a laid-back vibe, and with large group bookings and private hire available, you can make the most of the 150 person capacity if you so wish. Surrounded by beautiful boutiques and restaurants, it’s no surprise that Eclipse has become a favourite spot for locals seeking somewhere chic to hang out. Just 6 minutes from South Kensington station, it’s also well connected to further afield.
One of The Jam Tree’s biggest selling points is its fantastic beer garden – one of the best in all of London – which makes for a wonderful outdoor space should you be planning your shower for during the summer months in particular and want to make the most of any sunshine. Don’t fret if the weather isn’t on your side however, as there are a further 2 distinct spaces available indoors – the main bar and the private loft bar. Full of character courtesy of the exposed brickwork, flooded with natural light in thanks to the vast windows, and brimming with charm and quirk due to the colourful décor, this is a great and flexible venue, not to be missed.
Bumpkin Chelsea is a Great British Brasserie, proudly using the very finest locally sourced, seasonal ingredients to prepare classic British fare. This is another flexible offering when it comes to the spaces at your disposal, with a private dining room as well as the Secret Garden. You can also get access to The Chelsea Gardener, a little oasis in the heart of the city. The great outdoor space on offer also means they are one of the few venues in Chelsea to be able to cater to a BBQ style event. Found just off the King’s Road, the nearest tube stop is Sloane Square.
