Below is a breakdown of some of London’s very best exam halls, all suitable for a whole range of different events.
The Lindley Hall at the Royal Horticultural Halls is the London venue of choice for external school or university examinations. Once frequented by royals and more than 100 years old, the historic venue sets the scene for education. The first exam was held in the Lindley Hall in 1906 and we have been helping your examinations excel ever since. Offering abundant natural light and a separate room on special request, the Hall has everything you need from an external venue. Accommodating up to 480 desks, the venue has plenty of space. If your numbers are larger than this, contact us to discuss other options. We’ll even provide a floor plan to make it simple to leave the correct distance between candidates. The exam room is set up with specialist exam desks, chairs, clocks, Wi-Fi and a separate invigilator area. Security is offered should you need it, as well as a cloakroom and secure room for storing exam papers. Easy to reach with excellent transport links from Victoria, Pimlico and St James’s Park in central London, the RHH is an ideal choice for all academic institutions and professional bodies
Centrally located in the popular area of Marylebone, the Hellenic Centre is a blank canvas, able to be kitted out to suit all manner of styles and situations. That is not to say it is lacking in its own charm and allure however, with The Great Hall’s beauty lying in its simplicity and impressive adaptability. Everything from weddings to awards dinners, and conferences to fashions shows have been held here, giving you a taster as to how diverse and versatile it can really be. As for getting there, the nearest tube station – Baker Street – can be reached in around 6 minutes.
York Hall is a Neo Georgian building which dates back to 1929. Considered a home of British boxing, it regularly hosts boxing shows, some of which are even broadcast live on television. With a spa, gym and swimming pool also onsite, it’s an easy choice for a sports related event, but don’t let that limit you, as the generous space is also able to cater to the likes of concerts, fairs, exhibitions, product launches and conferences. The bar and fully-fitted kitchen make it easy to organise refreshments for you guests, of whom there is space for a whopping 1000.
Also originating in the 1920s, Conway Hall is another Grade II listed space, renowned for its significance within the cultural and political heritage of London. The capacity of 400 is spread across balcony and floor seating in the Main Hall, which has been celebrated not only for its delightful period features but also its wonderful acoustics. This has allowed it to play host to concerts, lectures, screenings, drama performances, dance classes and charity fundraisers, amongst many other events, proving once again the sheer versatility in venues such as these. Just a 5 minute walk from Holborn station, it’s also easy to reach via public transport.
