Eight Private Event Pop Up and Retail Spaces

Pop up shopping events are all the rage lately, saving money on start up costs, reducing the overhead of retail sales operations and letting shop vendors do some pretty unique things, but the choice of event venue is just as important as what you’re selling. To help you make the most of your next retail pop up, we’ve selected some of the hottest locations in London that are individual and unique, lending a cool and chic appeal to anything you may want to do with your merchandise. They’re not huge spaces, but the intimacy is all part of the charm, and will more than accommodate the needs of any shopper.

Chiltern St Studio

Chiltern St Studio

Chiltern St Studio’s location is ideal for a pop up retail space as it sits on Clerkenwell road in a creative hub of London that is surrounded by all sorts of amenities like restaurants and hotels, making it a prime spot to capitalise on passing trade and footfall. The venue itself is a blank canvas, easily allowing you to tailor the 2531 square feet of space to suit your event’s particular needs and style. With two bright, spacious sections on offer, it’s a flexible space that can accommodate all sorts of retail experiences. If you need to travel from throughout London to get there, Farringdon station is just 5 minutes away.

Canvas One

Canvas One

Canvas One is also very well situated as it is found on Curtain Road in the popular area of Shoreditch, known for being the home of the city’s creative communities. Within comfortable walking distance of both Old Street and Shoreditch High Street stations, this highly adaptable venue boasts a blank canvas event space as well as a separate green room which could be used for staff and organising stock for your pop up shop. There’s a standing capacity of as much as 250 which means there’s plenty of room for customers to mill around and browse what you have on offer.

Friendly Place

Friendly Place

One of the coolest things about the Friendly Place is the fact that you have access to the open rafters on the ceiling. This means there’s no issue with hanging products or merchandise, or putting in your own unique themes and decorations to better present your pop up. It’s got 7,500 square feet of meticulously finished space, with a fabulous 1,500 square foot terrace on the roof. There are in place furnishings throughout, and a wide range of lighting options, including generously proportioned window space that bathes the space in natural light during the day. There’s also a fully operational commercial kitchen, with separate kitchenettes on each of the four levels, meaning you can easily entertain and provide refreshments to guests.

Riverside Walkway

Riverside WalkwayA seasonal event space if ever there was one, unless you’re selling parkas and skis, the Riverside Walkway is a venue that lends itself to bright and airy pop ups. It has direct riverside frontage, meaning it’s already set to attract a range of standard guests as they’re out walking down the Thames, but more to the point, it’s always got a pleasant breeze and a bright sunny feel about it. The space accommodates up to 200 shoppers, and is floored in well seated pavers that make it easy to set up and navigate. Additionally there are a number of benches for people to sit on and relax while their significant others do the shopping. In terms of exterior riverside space, this location is unrivaled, offering a unique event location unlike any other in the area.

ICETANK

ICETANK

The coolest retail event space in Covent Garden, ICETANK is just off Shaftesbury avenue, and offers a wide range of convenient transport links. It’s one of the few venues on our list with such a large and visible storefront, meaning that your pop up retail theme can not only attract invited guests, but also draw in the countless shoppers who might be out and about on the street. It covers a well proportioned 2,500 square feet of event space, and has on site plasma screens, wi-fi, a built in stereo, and even an HD projector. There’s also a fireplace, if you’re considering a daytime Christmas or holiday theme for guests in the holiday spirit.

Hatch

Hatch

Perhaps the most unique space for anything chic or funky, Hatch is definitely something out of the ordinary. It’s got an entrance that’s sure to draw in all sorts of visitors, being made up of a series of windows and doors seemingly mashed all together, and an interior that is either a mix of eclectic arts space, or something straight out of a runway designer’s showroom. The place offers a number of interesting theme possibilities that are anything but run of the mill, letting you bring to life even the most wild ideas and dreams. Overall it’s a comfortable and easily adaptable retail space that’s conveniently located right next to the Homerton overground.

The Bottle Shop

The Bottle Shop

A more interesting and perhaps niche location for retail events, The Bottle Shop won’t disappoint. It’s an industrial space that’s tucked under an old railway arch, and features a number of hip decorating possibilities. In fact, you could bring a wide range of funky and cool ideas to life in this place, taking advantage of both the arched ceiling and the corrugated walls. On location the space has a huge selection of both craft and custom brews, offering some of the finest beverages to be found anywhere in London. Whether you’re looking to have an event that caters to the venue, or looking for event venues that cater to the event, there’s no shortage of options to be found in this unique location.

The Arch Collective

The Arch Collective

It’s a bit smaller than some of our other venues, but then The Arch Collective isn’t meant to host massive pop up retail events. Rather, it’s supposed to provide just enough to entice guests in, and then delight them with the intimacy of a 70 person capacity shopping venue. There are a number of built in features that will also help vendors rest at ease, including a built in CCTV camera array and in place security alarms. Additionally there is an outside frontal space carpeted in artificial grass that features all weather furnishings to suit those who might prefer to sit out the actual shopping of their better halves, instead sampling the BBQ you can have going in the on location grill. Overall it provides everything a traditional retail space would be expected to, but at a fraction of the overhead.
