Quirky small conference venues in South London

Below is a selection of some of our favourite small conference spaces in South London with a quirky twist, ideal for your next intimate corporate gathering.

The Jam Tree Clapham

The Jam Tree Clapham

The Jam Tree Clapham is in fact a rather spacious venue overall, able to accommodate up to 600 guests in total, but with various individual spaces that can be hired out and utilised individually, it’s still more than capable of hosting a more low key conference. These spaces range from a dining area to a private lounge room, and it even includes a generous outdoor space with ample seating at your disposal should you prefer to host your event in the open air. Located in Clapham Old Street, the nearest transport links are Clapham Common and Wandsworth Road.

The Oyster Shed

The Oyster Shed

The Oyster Shed is another flexible offering when it comes to the scale of the space you were hoping to hire, with individual bookable areas, a separate meeting room which has been used for training days, workshops and the like, as well as the option of full private hire at the weekends. This modern riverside venue makes the most of its great location with vast full length windows, flooding the space with natural light and allowing you to take in the wonderful views of top city landmarks including The Shard and London Bridge. Well connected, it sits just 5 minutes each from Cannon Street and Monument stations.

Flow Dance London

Flow Dance London

Flow Dance London is a newly established studio space that offers dance lessons in various different styles, from jazz to hip hop and everything else in between. Utilising the excellent open space to its full potential however, it is also available for hire as a multi-purpose event space, with features including 2400 square feet of floor space, contemporary wooden flooring, full length mirrors, air conditioning, a professional sound system and dimming lights. This unique offering sits just a stone’s throw from Oval tube station, which can be reached on foot in just a few minutes.

Ropewalk

Ropewalk

Certainly one of the quirkiest choices featured here, Ropewalk barely has a blank section of wall in sight, with all manner of interesting art, pictures and props filling the various rooms. Be it the larger Eisenhower Room, the smaller adjoining Textiles Room or the Barge Bar, which is the most intimate of the three, Ropewalk is ideal for gatherings of fewer people, with a maximum capacity of just 60. This one of a kind bar and dining venue can be found in LASSCO Ropewalk, the renowned architectural salvage warehouse in the popular area of Bermondsey.

The Bottle Shop

The Bottle Shop

Also found in the Bermondsey area, just 5 minutes from the station of the same name, The Bottle Shop is a craft beer specialist carrying over 350 bottles and a varied selection of kegs. This has made them a very popular choice for tastings and for picking up expert advice on discerning flavours, with many of their beers not being found anywhere else in all of London. Aside from this however, the industrial style and informal feel of the space – tucked beneath a railway arch with its distinct curved ceiling – allows it to lend itself to other event types as well, including an alternative take on the traditional conference.
