East London is a popular place to hold a wedding, but luckily popular doesn’t necessarily have to mean expensive. The following are all affordable venues that don’t compromise on style.
Bleeding Heart Yard has more than 30 years’ worth of experience when it comes to hosting successful events, including everything from wine tastings and banquets to business meetings and, of course, wedding receptions. The Private Dining Rooms within the Bleeding Heart Restaurants are historic, cobble-stoned and as such, are full to the brim with character and charm aplenty. The adjoining medieval crypt makes for a wonderful reception space, able to accommodate between 50 and 120 guests, depending on the scale of your particular nuptials.
Hoxton Docks is located on the banks of Regents canal in Hackney E2. This ex-coal storage factory offers the now much sought after industrial, urban feel and a hugely versatile space that can be adapted to fit any number of different needs for up to an impressive 700 guests per event. The large onsite courtyard and two rooftop terraces allow the party to move outdoors should the weather allow it but rest assured there is ample space inside if not. It’s also easily reachable from throughout London, with both Hoxton and Haggerston tube stations nearby.
Shoreditch Studios is, as the name would suggest, a spacious studio space found in the heart of Shoreditch. It’s a great choice for those who love a slice of history, with the venue comprised of two railway arches and complete therefore with charming curved ceilings and exposed brickwork that dates right back to the 1860s. Up to 450 guests can enjoy this 3500 square feet of Victorian architecture, while you can kit out the blank canvas to suit your own needs. In terms of practicality, both Old Street tube and train stations are just 5 minutes away, meaning you guests should be able to each you from both across London and further afield.
If you like the idea of a blank canvas but want something a little more intimate instead, then The Pickle Factory – spread across 225 square metres – could be exactly what you are looking for. The white walls, steel beams overhead and brickwork style flooring underfoot combine for a great urban setting that effectively sets the tone but otherwise leaves the interior design choices up to you. Your 180 guests can choose to utilise either Bethnal Green tube station – just 10 minutes away – or Cambridge Heath Road train station – just 5 minutes away – to easily reach the party.
POND Dalston is a truly unique restaurant and cocktail bar that allows you to sample exciting New Hawaiian style cuisine without even having to leave London. Being a converted warehouse, the interior has a spacious yet surprisingly warm and welcoming ambience and can accommodate close to 500 guests per reception. The space itself is highly versatile in its use, meaning you really can put your own stamp on the day, and you certainly needn’t worry about getting there, with Dalston Kingsland a mere stone’s throw away and Dalston Junction not much further.
