The party season is one of the most hotly anticipated times of year and with so many options available when it comes to staging a celebration, it can be daunting knowing where to even start making decisions. If however you want something that is sure to make your night stand out from the crowd and be remembered by all your guests as a truly unique occasion, the latest collaboration between Oval Space and The Art of Dining may be exactly what you are looking for.
Found in the heart of Bethnal Green, East London, Oval Space is a multi-purpose venue set across an impressive 6000 square feet. Be it fashion shows, corporate events or a filming location, this huge and highly adaptable space has been put to use in any number of different ways. This December however, they will work alongside pop-up culinary team, The Art of Dining, to host two exciting Christmas events.
The Art of Dining creative team is comprised of Moro-trained chef Ellen Parr and set designer Alice Hodge. Together they aim to bring London unforgettable, pop-up parties that are as much a feast for the taste buds as they are for the eyes. Their themed events have gone down a storm thus far, with their quirky, bespoke menus being tailored to match the immersive atmospheres created by the often interactive décor and settings.
Meanwhile, the team at Oval Space has overseen the successful running of hundreds of events and will be on hand to make sure everyone has a night like no other. This isn’t the first time they have teamed up with The Art of Dining however, with their previous Gone Camping pop-up which ran in January 2015 having been so popular it has inspired them to come together once again to create two festive packages set to rival the tired old norm.
Held in Oval Space’s sister venue, The Pickle Factory, just ten minutes from Bethnal Green, this 80s themed Christmas party is taking its inspiration from the workplace, with of course a bit of a twist. So, amongst all kinds of wacky situations, expect some cringe-inducing boss encounters, post-it note quizzes, punch-filled watercoolers, plenty of paper in the photocopier (take from that what you will…) and lots of singing and dancing courtesy of the DJ from accounts. The menu has been designed to fit in with the 80s-era theme and will include soup served in novelty mugs, gourmet waffles, cheese puffs and even a course served in a lunchbox. You are definitely going to want to dig out the shoulder pads, back-comb the hair and get ready for a lot of laughs for this one.
For something totally different, you could opt instead for Forest Feast at Oval Space itself. With a magical environment taking its cues from fantastical fairy tales, you will encounter all sorts of freaky creatures (played by the excellent acting team) and must interact with them and the beautiful forest setting to follow clues, solve riddles and forge your own enchanting story. The food is as weird and wonderful as you would hope, with everything from wild boar pâté with poisoned toffee crab apples, to kid stew served in a cauldron over an open fire, and from soup served in baby pumpkins, to a Rapunzel salad complete with crispy angel hair. With the focus on interaction and creating an immersive and truly unforgettable night, Forest Feast is ideal for anyone looking for an alternative Christmas celebration.
Forest Feast will be running from the 14th of December onwards for groups of 200-800 people and all inclusive packages are available to book from £75 +VAT per person. The Office Party can be booked from £90 per person, with room to accommodate up to 120 guests. If you want to experience Christmas like never before, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss.
